Marketplace fees don’t change on a schedule, and platforms rarely shout about increases. This page is our public record of every fee change we’ve verified across the 13 platforms our marketplace fee calculator covers — newest first, each with a date, a source, and a link to the calculator it affects. We re-verify every schedule quarterly and whenever a change is reported. Spot one we missed? Tell me and I’ll verify and log it.

Baseline verified: all 13 platform fee schedules confirmed against official sources. Corrections made against our pre-launch research notes in the process: Venmo goods & services is 2.99% flat for personal accounts (not the old 1.9% + $0.10, which is now the business-profile rate); Depop boosted listings cost 12% (not 8%) for listings created since March 23, 2026; Mercari no longer charges sellers a payment processing fee and its 10% fee base includes buyer-paid shipping; Grailed commission is tiered (6%/9%) since May 20, 2026, not flat 9%; TikTok Shop's standard referral fee is 6%, not 8%; Square's online rate is 3.3% + $0.30, not 2.9%; Cash App instant deposits now run up to 2.5%, not 1.75%.

"Sell More, Earn More" tiered-commission test launched for a subset of US sellers in Fashion, Toys & Hobbies, and Food & Drink: commission scales from 8% down to 3% based on trailing 4-week sales. Invite-only test through at least November 1, 2026 — the standard 8% still applies to everyone else.

The Electronics reduced-commission promo (5%) disappeared from the official fee schedule — Electronics sales are back at the standard 8%. Third-party fee guides still citing 5% are stale.

High-Value Orders promo extended to Bags & Accessories and Jewelry & Watches: 0% commission on the portion of a sale above $1,500 (standard rate applies to the first $1,500; processing unchanged).

Commission went tiered for the first time: sales under $120 dropped from 9% to 6% (with a $1.99 minimum); sales of $120 and above stay at 9%.
March 23, 2026 · Depop
Boosted-listing fee raised from 8% to 12% for newly created listings. The 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing fee is unchanged.
Early 2026 · Cash App
Instant-deposit fee ceiling quietly raised from 1.75% to 2.5% (range now 0.5%–2.5%, minimum $0.25–$1, max fee $75). No announcement was published; we bracketed the change between December 2025 and April 2026 via archived copies of the official fee page.
Early 2026 · Square
Online card rate for the Free plan rose from 2.9% + $0.30 to 3.3% + $0.30 (Plus/Premium plans keep 2.9%). Effective date reported by third parties as January 13, 2026.

High-Value Orders promo began: 0% commission on the portion of the sale price above $1,500 for select categories (Comics & Anime, Toys & Hobbies, Coins & Money, TCG, Entertainment Cards, Sports Singles). Limited time; processing fee still applies to the full amount.

Instant Transfers added for US sellers: 1% of the transfer (min $0.25, max $1 per transfer, $500/transfer limit). Standard deposits remain free.

Texas Seller Fee Tax introduced: Texas-based sellers pay sales tax on 80% of the seller fee itself (roughly 8.25% combined rate on that portion), deducted from earnings.
2025 · Copart
Gate fee split by title type: $79 for clean-title vehicles vs $95 for non-clean (salvage); environmental fee rose from $10 to $15; virtual bid fee split into pre-bid and live-bid tiers. Copart publishes no changelog — dates bracketed from archived third-party fee tables.

Refund administration fee capped at $5 per SKU (20% of the original referral fee, per returned SKU).

In-person card rate rose from 2.6% + $0.10 to 2.6% + $0.15. Existing sellers with an active paid Square subscription could claim a temporary extension of the old rate.
Mid-2025 · Cash App
Cash App for Business processing restructured from a flat 2.75% to 2.6% + $0.15 per payment; 3% Tap to Pay rate listed alongside.
January 6, 2025 · Mercari
The big reversal: a 10% selling fee returned — now calculated on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping — while the seller-side payment processing fee was eliminated entirely. Buyers pay a separate 3.6% Buyer Protection fee at checkout.
November 2024 · eBay
Promoted Listings "dynamic ad rate" minimum quietly rose from 2% to 5%. Seller-set fixed ad rates still start at 2%.
October 31, 2024 · TikTok Shop
Fine-jewelry categories (diamond, gold, jade, platinum) moved to a reduced 5% referral fee.
October 24, 2024 · Poshmark
Full reversal of the October 3 fee overhaul after seller backlash: the Buyer Protection Fee was eliminated and seller fees returned to $2.95 flat under $15 / 20% at $15+. Poshmark issued rebates for the in-between weeks.

Short-lived US fee overhaul: seller commission cut to a tiered flat fee ($1–$3) plus 5.99%, with a new matching Buyer Protection Fee charged to buyers. Reversed three weeks later.

US buyer-side Marketplace fee introduced: up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1, shown at checkout and paid by buyers.

Goods & services fee on personal accounts rose from 1.9% + $0.10 to 2.99% flat. The business-profile rate stayed at 1.9% + $0.10 — which is why so many fee guides are now wrong about one or the other.
June 2024 · Stripe
US Instant Payouts fee rose from 1% to 1.5% of payout volume (minimum $0.50 unchanged). Core card processing stayed at 2.9% + $0.30.
April 1, 2024 · TikTok Shop
Standard referral fee jumped from 2% + $0.30 per order to a unified 6% (the fixed fee was eliminated). An 8% increase was announced for July 2024, but official documentation later showed 6% again — TikTok never documented the reversion.
March 27, 2024 · Mercari
Mercari eliminated seller fees entirely (10% + 2.9% + $0.50 dropped to $0) and shifted costs to buyers via a variable service fee. This lasted until January 2025, when a 10% seller fee returned.
March 15, 2024 · eBay
Per-order fixed fee rose from $0.30 to $0.40 for orders over $10 (orders of $10 or less stayed at $0.30) — the first change to the per-order fee since managed payments began.
How this log works
Every entry comes from the platform’s own fee page, seller-update announcement, or — where a platform changes rates silently — archived copies of the official page with the change window bracketed honestly. When we can’t pin an exact date, we say so. The current rate for every platform always lives in the calculator itself, stamped with its verification date.
